David is a 4th generation SLC resident working to better our community, empower citizens, and stop corporate interests being prioritized over the will of the people. He cares deeply about your voices being heard, processes being transparent, and voters making the final decisions that affect their communities.

David is currently a healthcare worker helping our unhoused population daily. He is engaged, listening to the needs of our city, and will utilize his lifelong experience and passion for justice to bring innovative people-powered ideas to the Salt Lake City Council.

Since 2000, David has advocated and fought for Ranked Choice Voting and is excited to see that in 2025, RCV will be used for the first time in SLC and throughout cities across Utah!

In 2003 David worked with civil rights attorney Brian Barnard in an effort to remove hateful, anti-LGBTQ+ language from Utah state law.

In 2006, when free speech at the Utah State Capitol building was under attack, he again teamed up with Brian Barnard and the Disabled Rights Action Coalition. They filed suit in federal court to protect the people and their right to exercise free speech and won that battle.

As Vice Chair of the Utah Democratic Party Environmental Caucus, David is fighting for clean air and water, and working to stop the proposed polluting port on Salt Lake City's west side.

As part of the coalition working to establish an arts and theater district downtown, David is working to restore the SLC citizen owned Historic Utah Pantages Theater, and bring the now empty Main Street lot back under SLC ownership after it was signed over to a large Texas developer in a questionable $0 back room deal.

On the same block, David is spearheading the effort to reopen Dinwoody Park to the public.

As part of the Salt Lake City Council, David will continue to fight for civil rights, the arts, animal welfare, parks, the environment, affordable housing, historic preservation, accountability in politics, electoral reform, and will work hard for a more informed and engaged electorate.
